Description
Usage

UR-294 is a one-component polyurethane varnish, the hardening process of which is based on the reaction with air humidity. Designed for protection and decorative finishing of indoor concrete and wood surfaces. Forms a glossy coating with exceptionally high hardness and wear resistance, therefore it is recommended for varnishing concrete and wooden floors in industrial and warehouse buildings, as well as in intensively used public premises. Can be used for the waterproofing of concrete structures that are not exposed to intense atmospheric factors.  The coating has good resistance to diluted alkali and weak acid solutions, as well as oils, petrol and solvents.

Apply the varnish on clean dry surfaces with a brush or roller. For fresh concrete surfaces, the varnish may be applied not earlier than after 28 days. Lime milk must be removed from these surfaces beforehand (see instructions for preparing concrete surfaces for painting on www.rilak.lt). Intensive air exchange (ventilation) must be ensured in the premises during the application and drying of the varnish. In case of insufficiently intensive ventilation, yellowing of surfaces covered with emulsion paints and plasters containing chalk is possible.  Dilute the varnish with solvent 2290 until the working viscosity. Xylene or SOLVEKS SPRINT solvent can also be used for dilution.  The diluted varnish should be used up within 3 days. For the first (priming) and last coat, the varnish needs to be diluted more than when applying intermediate coats. Approximately 15% by volume of solvent is required for the first and last coat and 10% by volume for the intermediate coats.  When applying the varnish in a thick coat in conditions of high humidity, gas bubbles may appear in the coating. To prevent this, the varnish should be applied in thin coats. Varnish consumption is 8–9 m2/l per coat. Sanding with sandpaper is recommended to prevent minor defects (for example, wood grain rising when varnishing wooden surfaces). Drying time at 20±2 °C is not more than 3 hours per coat. Each subsequent coat may only be applied after the previous coat has dried completely. Recommended number of coats, including priming, is 2–4. If the varnish is to be applied 3 days after application of the previous coat, then the surface must be treated with fine sandpaper to improve adhesion between coats. Coating reaches maximum hardness after 3 days. Store the varnish in a tightly closed container, protecting from humidity.
